Today, The Franklin Institute is Pennsylvania’s most visited museum. The Franklin Institute opened in Independence Hall in 1824 to honor Benjamin Franklin and his ingenuity. It became a hands-on science museum in 1934, with the construction of the current building and the adjacent Fels Planetarium.
